Papua New Guinea
100% Arabica PEABERRY
This type of Coffee, the Peaberry, was the first type of Bean that made me fall in love with coffee. It’s a mutation that grows a single bean inside the coffee cherry (rather than the one you most commonly see that looks like its split in two) – there’s no way to grow them specifically on their own.
Because they’re an “accident” the only way to collect them is to hand sort all the beans and ONLY pick the Peaberries by hand. This means that they’re literally hand-selected from hundreds of thousands of other coffee beans during the bagging process.
Since there’s only one bean to the cherry, ALL the Flavor gets collected in a single bean. As an added bonus – the beans Roast better because they roll in the drum.
If you’re using the Hario V60, the taste is very gentle, comparable to a juicy floral White Tea
Because this Coffee is Roasted Medium Light – you’ll get more than enough Caffeine to fill your ‘caffeine-o-meter’. If you’re wondering ‘why’ that is, take a look at our answer to the question of “Does Darker Coffee have more Caffeine?”.
